The following describes a standard Windows installation on a computer:
- The Windows XP Pro w/ Service Pack 2 operating system is installed. The computer must meet minimum specifications before this will be done (933 MHz Pentium III or compatible, at least 512 Mb of system memory, and at least 80 Gb on the hard drive.)
- If the installation is being performed as a cleanup after a problem, the user can expect that the hard drive will be low-level formatted. Data recovery after this is impossible! Users are responsible for the regular backup of their own files.
- The following software applications will be installed:
- Open AFS (for access to AFS files).
- OIT's Take Charge (Includes Firewall settings and virus and spyware software)
- MS Office 2003 Professional (includes Word, Access, Powerpoint, Excel, and Outlook)
- Acrobat Reader 7.0
- Installation of other software applications are a user responsibility.
Users are responsible for demonstrating to ESC that they have the appropriate software licenses for any software programs that are being installed.
