Undergraduate Research | Krystyna Traudt

Krystyna Traudt, a Physics in Medicine major, has undertaken an investigation of magnetic anisotropy by ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) in ferromagnetic semiconductor films. Her advisers are X. Liu, M. Dobrowolska and J.K. Furdyna of the Department of Physics. The project extends the understanding of FMR in semiconductors by analyzing the integrated intensity of the resonance, which reflects the total magnetization of the sample, in addition to determining the magnetic anisotropy of the materials, the main focus of previous FMR studies. Traudt concluded that both intensity and linewidth are governed by the process of inhomogeneous broadening of the resonance.
