Colorado Springs native Dr. Brandon Zabukovic, ND ’97 was nine when his twelve-year old sister Cassie passed away due to complications of her disability. This experience dramatically influenced Brandon. He recalls, “I think that’s when I decided I wanted to be a doctor, so I could try to help people with disabilities.”
When he came to Notre Dame to study science, he volunteered to mentor a child through the Notre Dame\ Saint Mary’s SuperSibs Club and spent time with people with disabilities at LOGAN Center. He even deferred acceptance into medical school for a year in order to live with adults with developmental disabilities at Sharing Meadows.
After graduating from New York Medical Clinic, he returned to South Bend and is now in his final year of residency and continues to dedicate his life to service.
